Orion System joins the LoRa Alliance®

Orion System announces that it has joined the LoRa Alliance®, the leading technology alliance for the Internet of Things (IoT) and low-power wide-area networks (LPWAN). Together with other members of the alliance, the Kazakhstan-based manufacturer of IoT technology develops new LPWAN-compatible solutions for building scalable, versatile and efficient wireless networks.

Joining the LoRa Alliance® opens up new technological opportunities for OrionM2M® and helps to solve the geographic and infrastructure problems most common in Kazakhstan. An open technology is the best way to meet the main goals set for the leading sectors of Kazakhstan’s economy: lower cost, better penetration, scalability, versatility, ease of use, licence-free operation, telemetry without GSM or the internet, and data security and privacy.

To date, Orion System has developed its own hardware and software and has set up its own production of a wide range of LPWAN equipment in the Republic of Kazakhstan.

OrionM2M® technology makes it possible to build a wireless, easily scalable, distributed telemetry network quickly. Long battery life of end devices, long transmission range, a minimal set of equipment and a low cost of deployment are what set OrionM2M® solutions apart.

LPWAN is a new approach to radio communication, used for devices and large distributed wireless telemetry networks. Its distinguishing features are low power consumption and wide-area coverage.

The LoRa Alliance® is an open, non-profit association. Since it was founded in March 2015, more than 330 companies and institutions have joined it. Today it is the largest and fastest-growing alliance in the technology sector. Its members work closely together and share experience to promote the LoRaWAN® protocol as the leading open standard for secure, carrier-grade IoT LPWAN connectivity. With its technical flexibility, its fit for many IoT applications, both mobile and fixed, and its certification programme, LoRaWAN® has already been deployed by major telecom operators, and is expected to expand significantly in 2017.
